SILCHAR, May 19: The members of Youth Against Social Evils (YASE), an
NGO, met Gaurav Gogoi during his visit to Barak Valley and drew his
attention regarding the transfer of land for the establishment of
proposed Super Speciality Hospital of Kanchi Sankracharyya Trust at
Urrunaband Tea Estate, at Circuit House here on Friday.
The members of the organization sought his immediate intervention in this regard as the Trust is now thinking to abandon this project and shift it to Tripura.
Kanchi Shankaracharya Organization (KSO) in the year 2008 expressed their willingness to set up a state of art Super Speciality Hospital in the district of Cachar. The KSO visited the district for site selection and finally made up their choice in the unutilized land of Urrunaband Tea Estate under Udharband constituency which is seven km from Kumbhirgram airport. The owner of the tea estate Dipankar Chatterjee accepted the proposal and agreed to hand over 30 acres of land for the proposed hospital. As the land included special cultivation area, the Trust needs no objection certificate from the government to start the construction work for the Hospital. But, unfortunately this matter is pending before the government for the last three years.
The young Congress leader assured his full co-operation to the members and said that he would place this matter before the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
The members of the organization present included Sanjib Roy, president, Sabbir Ahmed, Raj Barbhuiya, Sahabuddin Ahmed, Ankur Banik, Dinesh Kahar and Raju Chowdhury.
