Silchar girl hangs herself in Delhi

Silchar, May 17: Another young lady from the Northeast committed suicide in Delhi. This time its Sonia Ghosh from Silchar alias Dona, who hanged herself to death following alleged betrayal by her fiancé, also from Silchar. Both Sonia and her lover Samrat Paul were Mass Communication degree holders from Assam University Silchar. Sumita Ghosh, mother of Dona, alleged in a written statement that Samrat played with the life of her daughter. Their marriage was scheduled to be held in February next. But suddenly Samrat allegedly refused to continue the relation arguing that their Thikuji did not match. It was alleged that Samrat’s father a businessman, wanted his son to marry a girl from a rich family. Sumita alleged that her daughter could not bear the blow and finished her life. Dona’s body was found hanging from the ceiling at her Delhi Lajpatnagar residence . Meanwhile, family member of Samrat refuted the allegation that he ditched Sonia admitting that their Thikuji did not match.
